Rione Sanità (Naples), Santa Lucia (Cosenza), Torre del Greco. There are places in Southern Italy that bear on their walls and on the flesh of their inhabitants the scars of irremediable wounds. In those wounds is the historical memory and the real face of people. Their names are Alfonso, Elena, Marco, Stefania, to name a few. Some come from the same neighborhoods and know each other, others do not. But they all have one thing in common: they met Ciro Battiloro, who followed them into the intimacy of their homes, with his camera and his heart. He portrayed their daily lives by taking part in them. Never an intruder, Ciro Battiloro is a friend, a brother, and a confidant. He focuses not so much on marginality but rather on extraordinary vitality. He has seen new lives born, children become teenagers and then parents in turn. He also had to say goodbye.
