Anouk Tschanz, curated by Edoardo De Cobelli
Artist Anouk Tschanz and curator Edoardo De Cobelli explore the ecosystems on the edges of the farmlands in the lower Lodi area, near the point where the Adda meets the Po.
The ridge is a slope of land that separates the typical farm fields of the Po Valley and which, especially in the past, served as the final barrier against flooding from the Adda River. Amid the expanses of cornfields, this narrow, long strip serves as a reserve home to poplar, black alder, and wild cherry trees, providing a habitat for the local wildlife.
Hidden within the small mosaic of rows of crops, groves, and wetlands along the ridge lies a world that artist Anouk Tschanz explores through the lens of a photographer but with the eye of an entomologist. Close-up black-and-white shots capture the insects that inhabit this window into biodiversity, from the rarest and smallest to the most common and well-known. An island in a sea of earth- and ochre-colored fields, the coast is an island of life where the fox shares its home with the badger, and the lives of animal species intertwine within just a few meters of slope.
