Gentle Fire Basel is a rework by Ivan Liuzzo and Simone Spampinato, begun in 2021, based on Alvin Lucier’s composition Gentle Fire (1971).

The piece involves transforming a sound image found in the list-form score into another sound image, which is part of a second list.

Some of the sound images written in the score are sound events from the environment, while others are speculative and imaginary. Gentle Fire Basel is the first work in the series, created by recording a selected pair of sound images from the city.
