Titled "Tetuan, Tetuán, تطوان", this publication accompanies the first comprehensive monographic exhibition by artist and filmmaker Adrian Schindler, produced by three institutions in France, Spain, and Morocco: Centre d'art Le Lait (Albi), Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (Madrid), and Kulte Art Center (Rabat). The exhibitions will take place between late 2025 and early 2027, concluding an ambitious project developed from 2018 to 2025 across these three countries. The trilogy is also set to be presented as part of Fotonoviembre 2027 at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (Canary Islands).
This trilingual publication brings together five texts written by contributors closely associated with the project and involved in various stages of the trilogy (production, curation, and guidance during the shooting). Three of these texts analyze each chapter from a situated, theoretical, and personal perspective. A correspondence between Córdoba and Tangier examines the implications of the work in the Spanish and Moroccan contexts. And a lengthy interview focuses on situating the trilogy’s themes within the French context.
In addition to film stills and behind-the-scenes photographs, the catalog presents the graphic works produced in conjunction with each chapter of the trilogy, as well as comprehensive documentation of the numerous public events organized throughout the project (performances, round tables, and reading groups). Thus, beyond being a retrospective work, this book is also intended as a standalone publication—a theoretical toolkit that allows readers to explore in greater depth the questions and themes addressed in the three films.
The trilogy was produced by Lejos lejos together with Anna Manubens (Chapter 1) and Chi Films (Chapter 3) and was developed in collaboration with Salma Amazian, Nassim Azarzar, Abdelkarim Bentato, Fátima Bourhim Mesaoudi, Ali El Aziz, Rita El Jebari, Abdel Aziz El Mountassir, Ikram Essaghir, Itzea Goikolea-Amiano, Ibrahim Ibnou Goush, Huda Laamarti, La Guardia Mora, Sono Mayrit b2b Disco Atlas, and Sara Mediouni.
