A Flicker of Mercy is a collection of essays that emerged from the open call for o—mag’s ISSUE_0, opening with a provocative statement by philosopher Timothy Morton taken from his book Hell: In Search of a Christian Ecology (2024).
The collected contributions convey the authors’ perspectives and stances regarding Morton’s concept of Hell: a contemporary condition saturated with meaning, a suffocating web of definitions, identities, and divisions that traps us within predetermined boundaries.
Ambiguity, strangeness, and the uncanny, on the other hand, emerge as generative possibilities - flickers of mercy - capable of cracking what appears to be a given, revealing its fractures, and opening the way to a different perception of reality.
